While Diwali may be the time for most of us to buy a smartphone, here are the best!
Diwali is coming up soon, and it's time for buying guides. The smartphone makers have repeatedly told us that Diwali is the most popular time for Indians to buy smartphones, which is why companies like Apple launch their smartphones during this time. Although it's the holiday season, your budget always matters. Here are some phones you should consider, no matter what your budget is.
Money no bar
Among the devices in this range, the Samsung Galaxy S6/Note 5 and the iPhone 6S/6S Plus are the best. The Galaxy Note 5 and the iPhones are not particularly inexpensive phones, but if a starting price of 62,000 isn't your cup of tea, then the Galaxy Note 5 is the one to go for. It depends on your screen size preference and budget. Unlike earlier flagship phones from Samsung, the competition with Apple's newest iPhones is much closer now, and your choice of OS is even more important than your budget. Will it be Android or iOS?
I don’t spend 40k on a phone, but above 30k is fine
There are two phones you should be looking at if this is the case: the Nexus 5X and Moto X Style. While the Nexus 5X isn't ideal for big screen lovers, the Moto X Style isn't ideal for compact phone buyers. In many cases, the two can be used interchangeably, and the Moto X's camera is just slightly better. However, the Nexus offers a longer battery life.
This is a tricky price segment, so if you have a budget of less than 35k, you can get the Nexus and Moto X Style. However, if you have a budget of more than 35k, you should consider the Nexus 6P or Apple iPhone 6. The Nexus 6P is amongst the most powerful phones you can buy, and Apple's last generation is still among the strongest.
Who spends 30k on a phone anymore!
I can't recommend flagship devices anymore, even when they're good, because of the advent of mid-range models. So, if you follow this philosophy, here's what you're looking at.
It is of course possible to choose the OnePlus 2 here, but the newest flagship device is difficult to come by. The Honor 7 is a golden-coloured smartphone made by Huawei that is just around the corner. The phone costs Rs. 22,999, a good 2k less than the OnePlus 2, but it is not as powerful.
20k is all I could save!
You can now purchase some of the best smartphones in the market today. Ready? Here they are.
At 20k, the 32GB version of the Moto X Play is one of the best smartphones we have seen in a very long time. OnePlus X, which was recently launched in India, is also a contender, although we'll confirm that one once we're done reviewing it.
It's the Asus Zenfone 2 (4GB RAM), for Rs. 19,999, which offers raw power, decent cameras, and good battery life.
My budget is 15k. Period.
There's no doubt that the Asus Zenfone 2 (2GB RAM) is the best phone under 15k. You know it's a winner when it has good cameras on the front and back, great performance, and a battery that lasts for about 10 hours. Add to that, and you'll get a great deal of battery life.
It's sleek, well-built, and has a great camera for its price, so if you're looking for a better camera though, and can compromise on performance, the Xiaomi Mi 4i is worth considering.
They say 10k is enough for a good phone today
Although you'll have to compromise a little, there are actually some good options out there. We'd recommend the Meizu M2 Note as the first choice. Meizu is a new player in India, but its phones have been quite impressive. With a great camera and performance, the M2 Note can rival any of its competitors.
Alternatively, the Lenovo K3 Note is the second best option on the market right now, but it is harder to find.
I’m buying for my not to tech savvy father, and 7k is all that needs
We just ranked the Meizu M2 smartphone as the best budget smartphone to buy, so you should grab it. It costs Rs. 6,999 and comes with a 13MP rear camera, a 5inch 720p display, and 2GB of RAM. In addition to 16GB of storage, it runs on the MediaTek MT6735 SoC.
As an alternative, you might also want to consider the Xiaomi Redmi 2 Prime, which has the same specs as the Meizu M2.
